Independent research on freedom online.

The Internet Freedom Index is published by DigitalPlat Foundation, Inc., an independent U.S. IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) public charity.

Purpose

The index records how laws, government action, platform controls, surveillance, and institutional oversight affect people who use the internet.

Point of view

We approach this work as an American civil-society organization. The scoring rules draw on freedom of expression, privacy, due process, open access, and accountable government.

Publisher

DigitalPlat Foundation works with communities on internet freedom, digital rights, open knowledge, and public-interest technology.
